AMENITIES:

DISTANCE:
20 mins uphill climb from the car park. If you walk all the way around Cissbury ring the total distance is 1.5 miles (2.4 km).
OPEN:
Dawn to dusk.

From the car park it is a steep, 20 minute walk uphill. In periods of wet weather, the lower slope may be a little muddy, however the fort itself, which is on chalk grassland, should remain dry. There are steps at points along the ramparts to the top of the ring, where you can walk the full circuit (just under 2 km).
There is plenty of open space here for children to run around and our daughter loved watching the wild ponies, which were grazing on top of the ring at the time of visiting.
Dogs are welcome, but please clear up after them (there are plenty of waste bins in the car park).
Chanctonbury Ring is just a 12 min drive away. However, having visited both sites, we found Cissbury Ring to be much more enjoyable for children. The car park is also bigger at Cissbury.
