Stroll along sandy trails, enjoying the beautiful scenery on this small triangle of open heathland. The area is well-maintained and is a great option for a family walk.

* Sandy trails, remain relatively mud-free even in winter

* Glorious Heather in late summer

* 'Alive' with the sound of crickets and grasshoppers in the summer months.

* Tranquil lake

Plan to spend around an hour here - or longer if you bring a picnic.

There are no way-marks, but it would be tricky to get lost, given the open nature of the heathland and the network of sandy trails. The paths are undulating and 'rooty' in places and are generally felt to be unsuitable for pushchairs.

Remember not to leave valuables in your car.
