The walk begins by the valve tower, in front of the car park (Way Marker 1). From here, follow the path along the water's edge, heading away from the Activity Centre. Continue on this path until you reach the road (causeway, Way Marker 7). 

At this point, you can choose either to return the way you came, or take the hillier extension loop (see map). Your hill climbing efforts will be rewarded with great views across the water.

Please note, it isn't possible to walk all the way around the reservoir! Although the Kingfisher Trail continues along the causeway and on to a bridleway on the opposite bank of the reservoir (up to Way Marker 12), you will need to retrace your steps to get back to the car park.. 

Whilst the path is fairly even underfoot, it can get very muddy in places and is therefore not suitable for wheels during the winter months, or after periods of heavy rain. There are no stiles or steps on the Kingfisher Trail (although there is a kissing gate at the end of the path, where it meets the causeway). 

Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on a lead at all times and remember to pick up after them.
