Walking over chalk grassland, Butts Brow is a glorious place to visit in fine weather and on hot days there is usually a gentle breeze.
There are no huge hills to climb here (the car park is right at the top of the Downs), but the terrain is gently rolling. There is one longer climb, but it is not steep.
Butts Brow is popular with dog walkers. Due to ground-nesting birds, dogs must be kept on leads on the access land that forms part of this route (between 1st March and 31st July). Please observe the signs.
A great spot for a picnic is marked on the map. We advise climbing over the fence (there is a stile) to distance yourself (and your food) from passing dogs, and to access the best views.
