This walk is gently downhill, all the way from the car park to the coast. From here, the route to Birling Gap involves some hills (short, but steep in places). The return leg, from the coast back to the car park at Crowlink is unrelentingly uphill, but not steep. Walking over chalk downland, the paths remain relatively mud-free year round.
The longer of the two suggested routes passes by the National Trust cafe, visitor centre and shop. There is usually an ice cream van in the car park here too (cash only), as well as a toilet block.
Dogs are welcome here, but must be kept on leads around grazing animals. Please also keep your dog on a lead whilst walking alongside the cliff edge.
