Legend has it that the Devil dug the valley to drown the parishioners of the Weald. Scientists, however, believe it was formed in the last Ice Age!

Explore the remains of an Iron Age hill fort
Discover where the devil and his wife are said to be buried (purple walk). Legend has it that if you run backwards seven times around these two humps, whilst holding your breath, the Devil will appear!
Look out for the remains of the Victorian funicular railway station

Choose from walks lasting approx. 30 mins, 1 or 2 hours

To make the most of this beautiful geological wonder, simply choose a walk to suit you and your family and follow the coloured arrows which mark out each route. It couldn't be easier!
Rampart Ramble (approx. 30 mins) - yellow arrows. Suitable for pushchairs when dry.
Downland Discovery (approx. 1 hour) - red arrows. A moderate walk.
Chasm Explorer (approx. 2 hours) - purple arrows. A more challenging walk. Taking in the Devil's graves and Saddlescombe Farm.
All walks begin from the car park beside the Devil's Dyke pub. An information board and gate mark the starting point.
Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on leads where signs indicate grazing livestock. Bins for dog waste can be found in the car park.
The only toilets are inside the pub and are for patrons only.
