Pre-booking is advised. During school term times there are no restrictions on how long you spend inside the Butterfly Gardens. We've visited several times and have spent 30-60 mins with the butterflies each time.

There is a small farm shop on site selling fruit/veg, cakes, pies, ice creams and drinks. Or, head to the nearby village of Ditchling for a great cafe (The Green Welly) and popular pub (The Bull; pre-booking usually essential).

What's Nearby?

The Butterfly Gardens are just a mile down the road from Ditchling Common Nature Trail (no charge). Choose from 0.5 mile or 1 mile routes (the former is wheel friendly) and perhaps bring a picnic to enjoy beside the lake.

Ditchling Beacon is just 3 miles away. It's the second highest point in the South Downs National Park and a fantastic place for a walk.
