Terrific 2-Wheeled Family Adventures in Sussex!

As soon as our daughter learnt to ride a bike without stabilisers there was no stopping her! So bike rides are now a firm favourite in our repertoire of days out, especially as Sussex has lots of lovely flat, traffic-free routes to enjoy.

Cycling is a fun form of exercise and great for engaging older children too... particularly those who roll their eyes at the suggestion of 'going for a walk'! As well as flat rides, we've suggested an awesome mountain bike trail, great for teenage enthusiasts.

WORTH WAY

Crawley, West Sussex

The Worth Way is a seven mile (11 km) route from Three Bridges to East Grinstead which follows the track-bed of an old railway line.

What it's Great For:

* Flat, surfaced, wide path - great for easy cycling!

* Geocaching! There are numerous geocaches en route, which added another level of excitement for our daughter. Simply download the free, easy to use Geocaching app.

* Shade & greenery - much of the trail is through light woodland, which provides welcome shade on a summer's day.

The Forest Way is the perfect place for a bike ride with the family. It runs along a disused railway line and our guide takes you from Forest Row through to Hartfield (3.5 miles each way). More adventurous cyclists can enjoy the trail all the way from East Grinstead to Groombridge (approx. 10 miles)!

What it's Great For:

* Cyclists and wheelchair users (wide, flat, surfaced path)

* Plenty of shade and countryside views

* Abundant wildflowers, butterflies and birds in spring and summer
