Awesome Animal Adventures in Sussex

Indulge your child's love of animals with a visit to one of these awesome animal adventures! Like most of the activities on I Spy Fun there are no admission charges - leaving you with money in your pocket to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake while the children play!

RAYSTEDE 

Ringmer, Near Lewes, East Sussex

A fabulous place to visit with children, Raystede is a charity which rescues, shelters, rehomes and provides sanctuary to a wide range of unwanted and abandoned animals. The modern well-laid-out site enables children to meet cats, dogs, goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, rabbits, tortoises, chickens, turkeys and waterfowl to name but a few! 

What it's Great For:​

  • Discovery walk - clearly signposted and dog friendly!

  • Feed the ducks and geese on the lakes with corn (provided free of charge)

  • Unique children's play area - can you climb like a cat, burrow like a gerbil or balance like a goat?

Ditchling Butterfly Gardens

Ditchling Common, East Sussex

 

Experience the finest of summer days, year-round with a visit to this tropical paradise!

What it's Great For:

  • Explore the beautiful Mediterranean garden, brimming with butterflies from all over the world

  • Watch the butterflies perform their aerial acrobatics to the soundtrack of running water from the fountain

  • Look for caterpillars & chrysallises amongst the vegetation

  • Photo opportunities galore!

TABLEHURST FARM

Forest Row, East Sussex

 

A great place to visit with younger children throughout the year. Tablehurst is a biodynamic farm with a range of animals and a lovely cafe garden with long-drop slide and tractor for children to play on. The farm has become a popular meeting place for families with young children with walking options taking in the surrounding countryside.

What it's Great For:

  • Visit the animals (pigs, cattle, turkeys & chickens when we visited)

  • Watch the farmers and gardeners at work

  • Wonderful Ashdown Forest scenery

  • Play in the cafe garden

  • Sample organic farm produce in the shop and cafe
