Free Places to Visit in & Around Haywards Heath
Known as the 'heart of Mid Sussex' Haywards Heath is a market town in the county of West Sussex. On fine days, Beech Hurst Gardens (within walking distance of the town centre/station) is a lovely place to visit; particularly for families with younger children.
Nearby Ardingly Reservoir (9 min away) is a wonderful place for a gentle walk with the family, offering great views across the water.
At Ditchling Common Nature Trail (10 min away), follow 'Dizzy the Dragonfly' on a lovely circular walk, to discover a range of exciting habitats. Or blow the cobwebs away whilst admiring the views at Ditchling Beacon (17 min away), part of the South Downs National Park.
Meet the cats and other animals at Cats Protection's National Cat Centre (19 min away). Visit the Ashdown Forest (22 min away), the home of Winnie the Pooh for stunning scenery and far-reaching views and call in to Trading Boundaries for refreshments and a spot of window shopping on your way home.

Haywards Heath has a population of around 23,000. The town benefits from excellent rail links - with direct trains to Gatwick airport (15 min), Brighton (20 mins), London Bridge and London Victoria (45 min).
